Modern Black and Wood Kitchen in Uxbridge

A contemporary kitchen for modern living.

A minimalist approach to modern organic design.

This modern black and wood kitchen in Uxbridge was designed for a recurring client who wanted a larger open-plan kitchen-living space. The combination of organic elements — wood, stone, and concrete — made for a warm and inviting space but still had an edge.

If you want a modern minimalist kitchen but are unsure where to start, we're here to help.

  • We started with black cabinetry with gold accents, which we knew would blend well with the concrete-effect tiled floor. We maximised the entire ceiling height by adding smaller storage units above the tall ones. We then added two sets of pocket doors that hide the ovens and larders when not in use, which helps to keep the space looking sleek and minimalistic.

The worktops and backsplash are made with white quartz; this brings light back into the room while keeping with the minimalist theme. The sleek pop-up extractor keeps things simple and doesn't take away from the kitchen's clean lines.

The utility room is relatively large – thanks to the extra tall ceiling – which allowed us to create a cloakroom for storage units for kitchen and cleaning items and for the washer and dryer.
